Hemp Is Creating Jobs in Wisconsin. Here's Why.

What do paper, batteries and hemp have in common? One word: Wisconsin.

WAUPUN'S HEMP ROAD REFLECTS AN INDUSTRY THAT ONCE WAS,

AND CAN BE AGAIN.

Can we agree that Wisconsin has a paper industry? Okay. How about batteries? Yes. Hemp? Check.

Hemp is the raw material that connects all of these in 2024. Even though the paper industry does not use hemp, it very well could, to replace plastic and PFAS-risky food packaging. The Wisconsin Battery Company in Portage will use hemp for power storage products, creating a lotta jobs. And back in WWII, the Waupun area was one of the most prolific producers of hemp in the US, for the purpose of "Victory".

But there's more, a lot more, like 10,000 other products that hemp fiber can be used for in 2024. And for the record, this has nothing to do with CBD or 'weed'. Okay? Can we get beyond that, finally?

Next step: Hemp for houses. That's already under way. This is real. And Wisconsin's own Sativa Building Systems is a national leader in this regard. For more on this, how hemp can pave the way for a new Wisconsin economy, check out our upcoming conference in Sauk County. There you can meet some of these movers and shakers and figure out how you and your community can put the state in the lead for once.
